Cutting-edge research continuously needs new impulses. BAM's interdisciplinarity, thematic breadth, many years of experience and its scientific relevance as a federal departmental research institution make it an excellent host for outstanding guest researchers. Current fellows of external and BAM-internal funding programs are mentioned here as examples:
Wilhelm Ostwald Fellows
Wilhelm Ostwald Fellowships can be awarded to high-ranking cooperation partners of BAM who regularly spend time at BAM or plan to do so as part of joint research and development work.

BMBF & ERC junior research groups
Dr. Janine George
Many renewable energy applications require the development of tailored and improved materials. The research group led by Dr. Janine George at the Materials Chemistry department focuses on data analysis, machine learning and high-throughput calculations for the search and design of new materials. The group consists of experts in ab initio calculations, chemical bonding analysis and vibrational properties.
BAM Junior research group "Computational materials design"
BAM Materials Chemistry Department
Dr. Johanna Sänger
The potential of ceramic micro- and nano-structures, with their outstanding chemical, mechanical and optical properties, has yet to be fully realised. The research group led by Dr Johanna Sänger, which is based in the Materials Engineering department, develops 3D-printed ceramic components on a micrometre to centimetre scale for medical technology, for example. The group combines scientific expertise in feedstock development, 3D printing and ceramic technologies with data-based quality assurance across the entire process chain.
