    Department 6

The aim of the Materials Chemistry department is to develop advanced materials with multifunctional properties using sustainable, innovative methods and to characterize them across scales. Advanced materials are materials whose structure and properties are specifically tailored to a particular function, such as energy conversion, conductivity, self-repair, deformability or decontamination. Tailor-made design and research into the synthesis of advanced materials and their characterization are crucial for key social technologies such as nanotechnology and biotechnology.

We offer solutions for our customers' material science issues and support digital, experimental and cross-scale material development and characterization from concept to realization over the life cycle of advanced materials. Our strength lies in the rapid combination of data from complementary methods in order to increase the safety and reliability of materials. Reference materials, processes and data make an important contribution to this. We use our expertise to develop methods and implement scientific, technical and normative strategies.
