Comprehensive solutions for security research
The challenges for the protection and security of the population and critical infrastructures are becoming ever more complex due to globalization and increasing networking. While new technologies open a wide range of opportunities, they also bring with them new dangers.
BAM cooperates intensively with authorities and organizations with security tasks as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in order to further develop such technologies and evaluate hazardous situations. Our focus is on people, their ability as emergency personnel and their safety.
One focus of our work is the detection and identification of hazardous chemical substances and explosives as well as the investigation of various impact scenarios for people, nature, and infrastructure. At our Technical Safety Test Site (BAM TTS), we can experimentally investigate such scenarios on a real scale and record them using extensive sensor and measurement technology. Based on the findings, we work with safety authorities to assess the effects, develop protection concepts, or adapt existing concepts to new requirements. Questions about the potential hazards for a gas/hydrogen tank and the resulting risks in the event of an externally caused incident are just as much a focus as the rapid identification of hazardous substances in the event of an accident.
