Sensors, Measurement and Testing Methods

Division 8.1

The Sensors, Measurement and Testing Methods division works on solutions to ensure the safe, efficient and sustainable operation of plants and systems. Our work focuses on the development, validation and implementation of mobile, stationary, component-integrated and networked sensors and sensor systems.

We develop scenario-based, heterogeneous and modular sensor systems and networks - e. g. based on mobile robotics - for large-scale condition detection and monitoring, for example of process engineering or geotechnical plants and structures. We develop and use AI methods for their efficient use and data evaluation.

The focus is on sensors, measurement and testing methods

  • for the digital and green transformation, in particular for safe hydrogen technologies and for environmental and emission monitoring
  • for civil security, in particular for condition monitoring and early damage detection on systems and structures
  • for quality assurance, in particular for calibration and testing for certain quantities and measurement ranges
